Psychoactive Mushrooms

Psychoactive Mushrooms

Psychoactive mushrooms are species of psychedelic mushrooms whose main active compounds are psilocybin and psilocin.  Specifically, in Aion’s psychoactive combinatorial formulations these generally can include Psilocybe Azurescens, Panaeolus, Psilocybe Cubensis. and Amanita Muscaria.

The serotonergic psychedelic, psilocybin, and its active metabolite, psilocin, have been shown to have strong anti-psychotic effects. Conditions including PTSD, anxiety, addictions /substance abuse disorders, and major depressive disorders have been extensively researched as have more specific types of depression, such as the end of life depression, all of which have shown favorable responses to treatment with psychedelics.

In cancer patients, psychedelics have shown anti-depressant effects, improved mood, and mental health effects, as well as reducing pain.

In patients suffering from Inflammation, psychoactive mushroom extracts of psilocybin activate the 5HT-2A receptor to reduce inflammation and can also prevent and reverse the effects of inflammation.

The greatest benefits have been researched in mental health, where treatment with psilocybin has been shown to effectively reduce the symptoms of depression without dulling emotions and helps the brain “reset”, by having patients rethink beliefs, behaviors, and compulsive patterns.
